About 40 Sons And Daughters

40 Sons And Daughters

40 Sons and Daughters have developed a sound that is unmistakably their own. Their alternative hard rock compositions are driven by intense, powerful vocals, catchy melodies, creative guitar arrangements, tight bass lines and insane drumming.

In March 2008, FSD performed as part of the 2008 Canada Music Week, which was an honour it itself just to be selected to showcase at this event. Two days after their CMW showcase, FSD won the Canadian Nationals in BODOG’s Battle of the Bands. Over 7000 bands entered this contest, and FSD won all 5 of its battles. They will now go on to represent Canada in BODOG’s international Battle, competing to win a $1M Recording Contract.

In November 2007, 40 Sons and Daughters won the People’s Choice Award for the Local Band of the Year at the Hamilton Music Awards. FSD put on a high energy show each and every time they play, which explains why their fan base is so loyal and passionate.

The band started in the spring of 2004 when Cristiano Andreatta (drums), Mike Szpakowski (guitar) and Graeme Hawkins (bass) got together to form the core of the band. They auditioned several vocalists until finally finding the voice that they were looking for ---- Mike Repic.

After gaining an impressive live reputation across Hamilton, they quickly recorded their self-titled demo. The demo met the approval of not only their fans but from fellow musicians as well. It earned FSD a spot on the Top 20 Indie bands list on Triple X Hardcore Radio, as well as Track of the Day, Best Guitars, Best Vocals, Best Drums, Best Bass, and several other honours from the acclaimed Garageband.com.

FSD returned to the studio to record their 7 song E.P. “Paint The Sky” which was released on April 7, 2006. This CD proved that FSD was for real. Two tracks that helped FSD stand out from the crowd were “Paint The Sky” and “Faithless”. FSD was named Hamilton's Rock Radio Station Y108 and Roger's Spring Music Festival's Breakout Band of 2006. In July of 2006, the band won the Y108 Get Hammered Showcase to claim a performance at Ozzfest, sharing the stage with Ozzy himself in Darien Lake. They also earned a place on stage at Y108's Rock n' Roll Picnic at Gage Park in Hamilton with bands such as Thornley, April Wine, Jeff Martin and Tom Wilson. Having received such notable local recognition in such a short period of time, the band decided to enter the 2006 Toronto Indie Festival and placed 2nd in the “ROCK” genre, capping off a remarkable year.

Their latest 7 song E.P. “The Monster’s Face” was released on March 23, 2007. Every track on this CD is excellent. “Green to Black”, “Waste You Call A Land” and “Deceit” have all done extremely well on Garageband.com, earning FSD several awards for Alternative Metal; Track of the Day; Best Bass; Best Lyrics; Best Beat; Best Mood and Rocking Track.

By combining alternative rock with heavy riffs and melodic vocals, FSD has been able to create some truly awesome music. Some of the musical influences that have helped shape their sound come from bands such as Alice in Chains, A Perfect Circle, and Dream Theater. FSD plans to continue its forward momentum and develop a work ethic that will allow them to fulfill their passion for playing music for many years to come.
