About Jessica Tivens

Jessica Tivens has been hailed by peers and critics as a fresh new force in classical vocal music.

Ever since her debut on CBS’ Star Search at the age of 8, Ms. Tivens has astounded audiences with her poise, warmth, versatility and charm.

Now, in her twenties, she has excelled in both operatic repertoire and crossover, often switching between the two in a single performance.

She has performed for President Clinton, and Senator Hilary Clinton, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and many other dignitaries. She has performed in concert with Michael Crawford, Josh Groban, Davis Gaines and jazz pianist Mike Garson. She has performed solo in concerts on stages from Calabasas, California to Reykjavik, Iceland, from Madison Square Garden to Carnegie Hall.

Jessica Tivens electrifies the stage.

She made her professional operatic debut in 1999 as Cherubino in the Festival Opera Walnut Creek’s acclaimed production of Le Nozze di Figaro, and went on with the company to portray Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Sophie in Werther. In the fall of 2000, she made her first Carnegie Hall appearance in a series of master classes and recitals hosted by mezzo-soprano, Christa Ludwig. Later on, Ms. Tivens made her New York recital debut in the Marilyn Horne Foundation’s concert series, On Wings of Song. Her collaboration with Marilyn Horne continued that summer at the Music Academy of the West, where Ms. Tivens played Norina in Don Pasquale.

The Merola program at San Francisco Opera.

In the summer of 2003, Ms. Tivens entered the prestigious Merola program at San Francisco Opera, where she took on the role of Monica in The Medium. That fall, she began a year-long apprenticeship in the Seattle Opera’s Young Artist Program where her Despina in Cosi fan Tutte was touted as “earthy, comical… and her voice the most supple of the lot,” by the Post-Intelligencer.

Recent Engagements across the United States.
