A native Iowan, Andrew Hunt discovered bluegrass and country music in, of all places, New York City where he moved (1984) after graduating from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. He began his artistic career as a painter and sculptor, exhibiting his own work and collaborating with a long list of well-known artists, including famed sculptor Arman. In 2000 he decided to focus on the music and is now a musician in residence at the popular East Village club Parkside Lounge after having served his time at the Sidewalk Cafe (a spring-board for other successes like Beck and Michelle Shocked).

NPR's "Car Talk" has featured tunes from his debut album "Whiskey Talking" (produced by well-known NY session and former BB King guitarist Matt Smith), the internet radio show "Americana in Paris" had one of his songs in the top 20 in December 2002, and Meredith Ochs' WFMU's show "Trash Twang and Thunder" has also featured his songs. He was selected to play at the prestigious NXNE Music Festival in Toronto.

A consummate songwriter, he is joined on stage by his wife Nancy and they are waiting for their two children to get a little older to complete the family portrait. With songs appearing in several NY independent films, he is becoming a darling of the indie film community and is presently in the studio finishing on his second record which will be released on sonaBLAST! Records fall 2003.

The Moline Dispatch calls Andrew Hunt "a Renaissance man (who) has been compared to Tom Waits and Steve Earle". Playback says: "a great New York artist, alt/country, singer/songwriter Andrew Hunt's debut album "Whiskey Talking" is a sublime mix of country and bluegrass. Iowa's Quad-City Times says Andrew is "a renaissance man", whose music is "kinda like Tom Waits filtered through Steve Earle."
