About Gil Conrad Johnson / Level 4

Gil Conrad Johnson (The bandleader) was born in the motor city of Detroit Michigan where he started playing bass at an early age. In his late teens he began touring throughout different parts of the world playing bass in a band for the U.S.O. program. He moved to California in 1976 and almost immediately was asked to join and play for the legendary Albert King. He remained with Mr. King through 1979. Upon returning to California, Conrad played in many local bands and worked countless studio sessions until co founding his own band “B 4 Dawn” with Terrie Londee. These days, much of his time is spent writing and recording material for the Level 4 project as well as “Voices For Christ”, a contemporary gospel group he co founded with his wife Terrie.

Robina Jackson, a native of Los Angeles California grew up singing with her sisters at the Gospel Singing Association. The singing group was called “The Gospel Jubilee Singers”. They sang on Sunday night live radio out of the “Triple A Theater”. At the age of 19 Robina and her family moved to the Bay Area where she continued to pursue her singing career. She has performed with countless artists and has recorded many studio projects. Robina continues to remains active in these endeavors while keeping a busy schedule with Level 4.

Don Thomas was born in San Francisco, California. His interest in the drums was sparked at the age of ten during a visit to Los Angeles to watch his cousin perform. At the age of twelve, Don played in an all-family member band called “ST and The Family Tree”. The band consisted of his two brothers and a cousin. Although under aged, Don performed with this band at local nightclubs and special events. At the age of eighteen, Don moved to San Jose where he played in numerous local bands and did countless studio sessions while studying music theory and percussion ensemble at San Jose City College. His current musical endeavors include A new jazz-fusion CD collaboration with bassist Gill Conrad Johnson, Performing with The “2^nd Cuzins” blues band, Terrie Johnson and the “Voices for Christ” gospel ensemble, the “Off The Hook” band and of course Level 4.
