About *Samantha Murphy*
Singer Songwriter Samantha Murphy was born in Hawaii. Her Mother, a native of Australia and her Father, a native of New Zealand, happened to be performing there at the time.
Raised on a tourbus, Samantha along with her parents and older sister, performed over 300 dates a year from the time she was six years old. The Murphy's opened for artists like Dolly Parton and the Gatling Brothers.
Fast forward to 1993, Samantha left Australia to pursue a solo career and landed a publishing contract as a Staff Songwriter with Warner/Chappell in Los Angeles. During those three years she wrote and recorded with John Shanks (Sheryl Crowe/Ashley Simpson), Graham Edwards of The Matrix (Avril Lavigne/Korn) and Hawk Wolinski (Chaka Kahn/The Eagles).
Samantha has most recently finished her debut album, somwehere between starving and stardom. A couple of the songs, including the first single "Days Like This," are produced by Martin Terefe who has most recently had success with KT Tunstall and James Morrison.
Pure Music calls somewhere between starving and stardom "...a perfect pop record" and Journalist Michael Ross chooses it as one of his top 10 for the Village Voice's Pazz & Jop Poll 2007.
