The Biography of Allison Prior

 

On stage and radio at the early age of 3, Allison Prior has always loved the stage, performing has always been her passion.

       

         Singing in the Mercy Convent choir, to the Holy Heart of Mary choir, and performing in plays such as the Wizard of Oz.

 

          Singing in her band around Newfoundland, songwriting, and organizing shows for fundraisers, Allison now is the director and producer of Starburst Entertainment.

 

          In the past Allison performed in the movie Faustus Bidgood starring Andy Jones, Mary Walsh, Tommy Sexton, Greg Malone, Loretta Gosse, her mother, and others, which was a fabulous and rewarding experience working with some of the best talent in Newfoundland.

         

          In the early 80’s Starburst Cabaret, a group of dancers and entertainers who performed for conventions, charities, such as The Happy Tree at the Arts and Culture Centre, and children’s shows, under the direction of the late Joan Horwood, and produced and choreographed by Allison Prior. Also, Allison performed in the “Hall Follies” hosted and produced by Andy Jones, at the LSPU Hall. Starburst Cabaret then went on to do “Hall Follies 2” with Reg Ivany as host.

 

          Having bit parts in movies such as “Red Door”, “Rare Birds”, “A    Whale for the Killing”, was also a great experience, getting the opportunity work and meet famous actors such as Keifer Sutherland, William Hurt, and  others.

 

          Allison acted as “ Alicia Van Horne” in the production of the dinner theatre “Mind over Murder”, with Split Pea Productions, which ran at Barkleys for 5 Saturdays to full houses, Last October.

 

          Now the director and producer of Starburst Entertainment, Allison organizes shows for conventions, fundraisers, clubs, and festivals, Allison has been promoting local performers such as Angela Warner, and had organized a fundraiser at the Holy Heart of Mary for the Sept 11, tragedy. Barry Canning, Rasa, Gearbox, KellyAnn Evans, Jim Fidler, and The Allison Prior Band, along with the Central Firefighters, who came on stage with Allison as she sang “ Wind beneath my Wings”, were generous participants Allison brought into the show. Host for the evening was Danielle Butt, Show Tech was also very generous in providing the lights and sound, and tremendous publicity from all the radio stations, and NTV.

 

                 Allison has had many interviews with the news media, CBC radio, and NTV promoting fundraisers, and local talent.

 

           Most recent project Allison has been selected for the Juno Showcase,

And will perform at the airport on Saturday April 13, 2002.

 

            Allison’s song “I’ll Miss You When Your Gone”, co-written with Bernie Scott, is now getting airplay on Radio Newfoundland.

 

          Allison is now recording a new CD titled “I’ll Stay”, a number of songs written by Allison and Bernie Scott. Allison also looks forward to many more years of her rewarding career as a singer, songwriter, actress and entrepreneur.

A Touch of Class
A Touch of Class (also known as The Prior/Scott Project) is a 4 piece function band playing the very best music from 1960's to present, and some originals. A Touch of Class has vast experience of a very wide range of functions, such as christmas parties, conventions,conferences, clubs, concerts, TV and more. We consist of Keyboards, guitars, bass, drums, male and female vocals. Our sound and lighting systems are rented from only the best companies,such as Eastern Audio, or Atlantic Sound Systems, with up to 10,000 watts of sound if required. Our sound man has many years of experience, and is one of the best around. The core of the band (Bernie Scott and Allison Prior) have been together since 1998, and have over 20 years of experience in the music and entertainment industry. On stage we wear formal attire of Black Tie/Evening Dress, or casual dress pants and coloured shirts. No t's or jeans in our band. We provide backround music for either pre-dinner drinks or during the dinner, if required. This Band has and will deliver a Variety of music that will please the most demanding audiences with it’s Great Vocals, High Energy Stage Presence and all around Great Music. This band is FUN and GOOD-TIMES and if you like to PARTY, You will LOVE A Touch of Class!!!
